fancy hot cocoa mix
This is one of my go-to homemade gifts. Mix up a big batch (feel free to multiply amounts below) and package it in a pretty jar.
Hot cocoa mix recipe
Fills a pint jar and then some
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups good quality cocoa powder, unsweetened (I like Droste)
1 cup vanilla sugar or plain sugar (I make vanilla sugar by scraping a vanilla bean into a jar of sugar, adding the pods and storing, sealed)
1/3 cup finely chopped bittersweet chocolate
1 pinch sea salt
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients. Portion into containers. For serving, mix about 2 tablespoons chocolate per 1 cup milk or milk substitute per serving, microwaving or heating on stove. Stir until all chocolate bits are dissolved. I like to gift these jars with a nice wooden scoop that’s a serving size of chocolate mix.
